Specific initiatives for the SDGs

Healthy management/
Promoting decent work

At our company, we strive to create a working environment where individuals can thrive in a healthy and lively manner, regardless of age or gender.

Provide all employees with the opportunity to undergo health checkups (physical examinations)

Previously, employees over the age of 35 were given the opportunity to undergo a medical checkup once a year at the company's expense, but from 1, all employees, including those under the age of 2022*, will be given the opportunity to undergo a medical checkup once a year, providing comprehensive health support for all employees. (*Partial payment required)

Regular employees, monthly overtime hours to be reduced to 2 hours or less!

By dividing up work responsibilities more efficiently, the average overtime hours across the company was reduced to 1.9 hours.
This makes it easier for employees to balance their work and life. For families with children, there is little overtime, making it a child-rearing-friendly work environment.

Promoting activities to reduce environmental impact

As we work to move towards a decarbonized society, we strive to protect the environment and aim to build healthy relationships with local communities.

Promote factory automation (DX) to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the manufacturing process

In preparation for the future carbon-free society, we have installed solar panels in some of our factories.
Going forward, we will continue to promote semi-automation and automation in various processes to improve energy efficiency.

Promote reduction in waste from product containers

For our large-volume products, we are gradually moving away from the conventional one-way drums and 18L cans and towards "flexible containers" and "drum recycling," which can be reused repeatedly.
We conduct tests on the number of times each product can be reused, and for some products we are using environmentally friendly containers that do not affect quality.

In cooperation with our partners,
Promoting development that protects the earth/environment

In order to achieve the United Nations' goal of creating a sustainable future society and environment, we will continue to work with our partners to create products that utilize our core technologies.

Development of flame retardants for wooden buildings to promote the recycling of wood

In order to promote the sustainable management of forests and wooden buildings, which are being promoted nationwide, we are developing flame retardants for wooden buildings. By using our products, problems with conventional wood flame retardants such as efflorescence (solidification of the flame retardant on the surface) and leaching (dissolution of the flame retardant onto the wood surface) are less likely to occur, allowing the building to be used for a long time without disrupting the wooden landscape.*
Through these developments, we are promoting wooden buildings around the world and contributing to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Development of environmentally friendly Eco Mark products

We are also focusing on developing environmentally friendly products. One example is our asphalt mixture adhesion inhibitor "Baloo AS-103."
Traditionally, asphalt mixtures are sticky and once they adhere to the pavement it is difficult to remove, so diesel fuel was used to prevent adhesion. However, diesel fuel has the risk of having a negative impact on the environment and is also a risk in terms of safety when used. By using our eco-mark product "Baru AS-103", this issue can be resolved while being environmentally friendly and safe to use.
In this way, we are utilizing our core surfactant technology to promote the development of environmentally friendly products that can be used in a variety of fields.
