Research Headquarters
Y.M.
(Joined in 2016)×Research HeadquartersY.M.(Joined in 2016)
Career so far: Research Division (9th year)
Q: What is your main job?
I am working on the development of resin additives. I develop various resin additives such as anti-fog agents and antistatic agents, and work on development while interacting with a wide range of users (experts) from the automotive industry to the wrap industry. It is a job that constantly stimulates my intellectual curiosity, and being able to be involved in product development is appealing.
Q: What made you happiest after joining the company?
Successfully developing a new antistatic agent. Our company is focusing on the development of antistatic agents for automobiles, and it was a major achievement for us that the new improved antistatic agent for automobiles that we had been developing for five years (from the 3rd to 8th years) was selected for adoption.
Our own antistatic agent for automobiles has been a long-selling product for nearly 20 years, but needs have changed with the times, and multiple improvement requests have emerged, including the reduction of harmful VOCs. It took several years to develop a balanced formula that improved the specifications in multiple areas while retaining the excellent points of the existing product.
Also, some of the evaluation items were prone to variability, and the evaluation methods used by the two companies differed in some areas, so it was difficult to receive a passing rating. However, in the end, our product was deemed to have improved in all areas compared to existing products, and we were adopted, which made us very happy!
Q: What is good about your company?
At our company, everyone involved in the process from product needs to product completion is an expert in their field, so we are able to gain a wide range of knowledge and come up with ideas that one person would never have thought of.
Another attraction of our company is that since you will be visiting users and witnessing prototypes at manufacturing sites, you will be able to interact with a variety of people, and the employees are friendly and talkative, which is another attraction of our company. Furthermore, given the size of the company, we have a full range of analytical equipment, and can perform quite specialized analyses. My daily schedule

Q: What is your main job?
I am involved in the new development of flame retardants for interiors and vehicles. I enjoy not only product development, but also interacting directly with users and being involved in the entire manufacturing process as a researcher at a manufacturing company.
Q. Why did you decide to join the company?
I was attracted to the idea of being able to utilize my field of expertise and contribute to society. In addition to research and development, our company offers many opportunities to communicate directly with customers and to be present at product manufacturing sites, allowing me to be involved in the entire process of a product, from birth to sales. There are also many opportunities to express my own opinions, and the environment is conducive to taking on various challenges.
Q: What makes you happy after joining the company?
In my third year at the company, I was put in charge of developing raw materials for flame retardants for vehicles, and the product was selected! Our challenge at the time was to reduce costs while maintaining the same performance as products currently on the market. So we decided to start by developing cheaper, higher-performance raw materials in collaboration with a raw materials manufacturer. However, we placed importance not only on price and performance, but also on quality and supply stability, and we collaborated with the raw materials manufacturer to make prototypes more than dozens of times, as well as having numerous meetings with raw materials manufacturers and users. The product is sold in quantities of over 3 tons every year, and the raw materials we developed are being considered for use in other products in the future, which made me very happy!

Q: What is your main job?
My main job is to propose new materials to customers, mainly flame retardants and antistatic agents. My job is to help new customers use our products and to support and solve their problems.
I find it rewarding to be able to help customers who are not yet familiar with our company become aware of our wide range of products, and to work together with customers to develop new products that can solve their problems.
Q: What made you happiest after joining the company?
During the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, I developed new products and acquired more than a dozen new customers. When sales in our sales department fell due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my boss invited me to do new sales of cleaning agents. I was a little hesitant because I was selling products I had never handled before and in a new industry, but I thought it was an opportunity to make the most of my experience so far and took on the challenge.
As a result, while visiting various companies, I was able to discover common issues that customers had and succeeded in developing and selling specialized cleaning agents to solve those issues. I think I was able to have this experience because I was in an environment where I had superiors and seniors who gave me many opportunities and advice!
I am always given new environments and opportunities, which allows me to conduct sales activities with a fresh feeling, and we are steadily gaining more customers in new industries! My daily schedule

Purchasing Headquarters
K.S.
(Joined in 2013)×Purchasing HeadquartersK.S.(Joined in 2013)
Previous career: Production Headquarters (7 years) → Purchasing (4 years)
Q: What is your main job?
We handle raw material procurement when research and development is complete and the manufacturing stage begins.
Raw material procurement work involves making internal and external adjustments through interviews with suppliers, etc., to ensure smooth procurement of raw materials in response to the constantly changing external environment, such as price adjustments and delivery date adjustments.
As I have more and more of these interviews, I feel that one of the interesting things about this job is that I am able to learn information from talking with suppliers that I would not normally be able to find through television or the Internet alone.
Q. What do you think is the best thing about joining the company?
I am currently in my third year at the headquarters, but even in my second or third year, I am still given a certain amount of work to do, and the accompanying training and follow-up from my superiors is substantial, so I feel that it is both an easy place to work and rewarding. In my private life, I have a small child, so I often get sick and have to take time off work, but everyone in my department is understanding and I receive plenty of support from my seniors at work, so I'm glad I joined the company and I also feel that it is easy to work in my department.
Q. Why did you decide to join the company?
I studied surfactants in university, so I was attracted to our company, which makes products in various fields based on surfactants. When I actually joined the company, I found out that our products are used in places that are not conspicuous, and I am attracted to our products, which are used in various things as indispensable products that you don't notice at first glance. Also, during the final interview, I had my first conversation with the president, and we had a lively conversation that made it hard to believe it was our first time meeting, as both the president and I love baseball. I was attracted to the warm atmosphere of our company, where even first-timers can have such a frank and friendly conversation.
Q: What do you do during your lunch break?
Employees can spend their lunch break freely to refresh themselves.
Since most of the work is done at a desk, many employees exercise during their lunch break, and some employees work up a sweat in the so-called "muscle training club" created by volunteers within the company. Many of the members are from different departments, but since they are all the same age, they always get along well and have fun together. My daily schedule

Purchasing Headquarters
T.M.
(Joined in 2009)×Purchasing HeadquartersT.M.(Joined in 2009)
Career so far: Research (6 years) → Purchasing (9 years)
Q: What is your main job?
The department I belong to is called the "Purchasing Department." I'm ashamed to say that I had never heard of it before joining the company. It's completely different from the purchasing department I had at school (laughs). My main duties include coordinating procurement of products both internally and externally, managing contractors, and working with research and development to select raw materials to be used in new product development, and I am involved in the development of new products.
Although I don't actually develop products, I can be involved in the design and development stages, which I find very interesting. In particular, I can feel a sense of accomplishment when a new product is finally completed using the raw materials I procured myself. I hope that those of you who are about to start job hunting will become interested in "purchasing."
Q: What is good about your company?
Our company is characterized by a homely atmosphere that combines strictness and kindness. Young employees are given a high degree of freedom in their work and we also place emphasis on self-improvement.
In my current department, I need to understand the terms of trade with suppliers and laws and regulations, and since we also procure products from overseas, I also need to understand foreign languages. Therefore, at Marubishi Oil Chemical Co., Ltd., there is an environment in which I can utilize the skills I have acquired, and I can feel that I am constantly growing because my efforts can directly lead to results.
This high degree of freedom and an environment that encourages self-improvement means that by always keeping your awareness high, you can improve your skills.
Q: How do you spend your time after work?
Basically, if I have time it's either "eating" or "sleeping" (laughs). Lately I've been feeling a bit unwell so I'm trying to improve my diet and make sure I get enough sleep too.

Q: What is your main job?
I am in charge of the overall shipping of products. I also handle product shipping and vehicle dispatch (arranging vehicle dispatch based on the order slip and creating shipping slips), and am in charge of the overall shipping of important products to be delivered to customers.
Shipping work does not mean working silently from right to left on packages. Rather, it is the last line of defense within the company, delivering the products manufactured by our company to our valued customers, and the job is carried out with great responsibility.
We are always conscious of how to ship products neatly and efficiently, and communicate with delivery companies to ensure that products are shipped without any issues every day.
When I first joined the company, I was assigned to research, so when I ship the products I was involved in researching and developing at the time, I feel nostalgic and sometimes feel like I'm sending off a child. Spending every day like this has allowed me to develop a very close relationship with the delivery company, and I've been able to build a relationship with them that allows them to happily handle sudden changes in the volume of goods or sudden shipments, so I spend every day having a lot of fun.
Q: What made you happiest after joining the company?
The thing that made me happiest after joining the company was that, as the person in charge of shipping, I was able to take advantage of the good communication I had on a daily basis to smoothly arrange vehicles for new large customers, which is usually difficult to do.
In my fourth year in my current department, I was able to carry out shipping operations without any issues throughout the year thanks to smooth communication with delivery companies, which gave me a lot of confidence.
We were able to achieve this thanks to the excellent communication we had on a daily basis, despite the many inconveniences we caused both within the company and to delivery companies, such as making sure that deliveries always consisted of the maximum load.
Q. What do you do on your days off or after you get home?
Since I have a family, I can work less overtime by focusing on my work and spending more time with my family. I also coordinate with my family on weekdays to pick up my children, etc.

Production Headquarters
S.T.
(Joined in 2017)×Production HeadquartersS.T.(Joined in 2017)
Career so far: Production Division (7 years)
Q: What is your main job?
The main duties include general product manufacturing (from preparing raw materials to completing the product).
We manufacture several types of products every day from our hundreds of product varieties. However, no matter how many times we manufacture the same product, we take various measures to ensure that we can adapt to seasonal changes in temperature and humidity and maintain the finish (quality) of the final product.
This is a nuance that only those who actually work on the production process can understand, but I feel it is very rewarding to be able to sense the situation within myself, devise a slightly different way of preparing ingredients, and devise my own manufacturing methods. It's very interesting, almost like cooking a dish.
Q: What made you happiest after joining the company?
The thing that made me happiest when I joined the company was that I was able to master the manufacturing techniques for a highly complex product in less than a year, something that would normally take several years to master.
It's fun to master the manufacturing techniques for new, increasingly difficult products and increase the number of products I can manufacture, but what I enjoy most right now is finding an easier way to teach the techniques I learned from my seniors to my juniors in my own way, and nurturing them so that they can master the techniques faster than I could.
Q: What is good about your company?
What attracted me to our company began when I took a tour of the factory before joining the company and was astonished by the amount of valves there.
However, after joining the company and interacting with the people on-site, I felt a sense of security and was enveloped in a homely atmosphere. I was able to grow as a person by receiving guidance from my seniors, regardless of age, and by being involved in the manufacturing of various products.
Currently, I am engaged in product manufacturing only at the factory I am in charge of, but I am also becoming more motivated to work at other factories, and I work hard at product manufacturing every day with a strong desire to improve. My daily schedule
